Our couples receive a decor credit for our sister company, Crystal & Crates – a specialty rental company with an inventory that includes a large collection of antique furniture, vintage finds, table decor, arbors, custom bars, and chandeliers

What is the rain plan?

We are strong believers in having a well-executed rain plan! Most likely your reception venue will become your ceremony location. If the rain stops with enough time for our team to set up outside, white umbrellas are provided for guests.

Gulf Beach Weddings FAQ

What prices do packages start at?

Prices start at $895 to $2,995. Give us a call for more details.

How does catering work?

The Affordable Banquet Reception Hall on St Pete Beach, FL allows you to bring in your own food and alcohol (Liquor Liability Insurance required). Most couples end up hiring a full-service caterer however, you are more than welcome to self-cater, friend/family member to provide, and serve according to your preference. You are essentially reserving the space for the day to do as you please!

How do decorations work?

You are more than welcome to decorate to taste (we have an entire back room full of decorations from Weddings past at no charge). The standard setup includes 10-rounds and 2-rectangles (Seating for 66) and linens for each. This is all included in the reception hall reservation.

What is the rain plan?

The reception facility located on St Pete Beach (6655 Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach, FL 33706 – Affordable Banquet) can be used in the Tampa market in case of Inclement Weather (if available). Some of the items which can be used on the beach can be used here, with necessary modifications as needed. The ceremony will take place on the Dance Floor of the reception hall.

Protea is built from an original, historic 1850's hand-hewn barn frame that originated from Scotch Line, Canada. Protea's barn frame was once used over one hundred fifty years ago to farm wheat. Protea's barn frame was professionally disassembled and re-erected once moved to Florida in 2019 by Heritage Restorations where it will live out the rest of its life on a working horse farm in Ocala, FL.

To accommodate weddings, Mega Construction has built new construction around the historic Hemlock timber frame leaving all the honey colored beams exposed boasting its true heritage and stories throughout hundreds of years.

How does catering work?

Protea has a preferred vendor list with every vendor you will need for your special day. We highly recommend our preferred vendors as we have worked with them numerous times and know their work first hand. The vendors also are familiar with Protea and know their locations within the venue. Outside caterers are also available. Catering companies must bring the food already cooked as Protea does not supply ovens. Protea does have warmers and ample fridge space to keep all catered food hot and colt. Buffet and plated are both allowed.

How do decorations work?

Protea can supply our current decor list of items available for rent. We have anything from table linens, table decor, to ceremony items available.

What is the rain plan?

Incase of rain, the ceremony will be held inside Protea under the Historic beams. Protea also has a very large covered patio area where people can still enjoy the outdoors without getting wet on a rainy day.

Note from the Owner As the owner of Protea, I can honestly say that this venue is truly one-of-a-kind. We have numerous venue tours daily and every single couple that comes to tour Protea, their first words are always "WOW, Pictures just don't do it justice." Even though I see and work in the venue all day, everyday, you just can't help but stop and stare at the beams and think about the stories within the beams when you walk in. Protea was finished with a very soft white color both inside and out, truly a photographer's dream. The pictures amongst Proteas 32 foot tall white barn just scream elegance and make all pictures look like something out of a magazine.
