Friendly Crossways FAQ
How does catering work?
For intimate celebrations with up to 40 guests, Friendly Crossways offers in-house catering with Chef-Owner Mary Helan. For larger events, couples work directly with one of our exclusive partners, Chef Geoff and Chef Paul, who both lead their own experienced and excellent wedding and event catering businesses. For overnight/weekend packages, couples can self-cater rehearsal dinners and farewell brunches or hire Chef Mary Helan. Homemade pies are available for all events!
How do decorations work?
Our lush outdoor spaces provide plenty of natural beauty for the ceremony. Couples are welcome to bring, set up and take down additional décor to accentuate that beauty. Our weekend wedding package allows loads of time for prep and set up ahead of the ceremony and reception.
What is the rain plan?
Currently a tent is required for events with dancing, or with more than 50 people. The tent package is not included in the venue rental. In the unlikely event of rain, the tent provides a gathering space for the ceremony. For intimate events, the “cathedral hall” in the renovated barn is an elegant ceremony site and we have renovated the carriage house into a welcoming dining space with exposed beams and real farm tables.
A Note from the Owner!
I’m a second generation chef-owner of Friendly Crossways. My fiancé, Keith, (now husband for more than three decades) and I were living in Hawaii where we got married. We experienced the joy of having friends and family join us from all over the world to create an intentional community for a full week of pre- and post-wedding events. When we took over Friendly Crossways from my parents, we first concentrated on upgrading everything, indoors and out. We then expanded Friendly Crossways' multi-year legacy of providing joyful individualized service to include wedding couples as well as retreat groups.
