#1 Blooms Floral Studio - Carrollton, KY

We're Interviewing: Russelynn, The Owner

About the Business!

Carrollton native Russelynn Tubbs began her floral design journey as a home-based freelancer in 2006. “Russelynn’s Floral Design” evolved into “Blooms Floral Studio” in 2016, followed by the opening of their brick-and-mortar location in April 2018. Nestled in the heart of downtown Carrollton, Blooms Floral Studio offers arrangements for weddings, funerals, corporate events, baby showers, and more. Smaller scale offerings include custom arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, prom, graduation, and holidays.

What floral services can you offer for my wedding?

We offer everything from bouquets, centerpieces, arch décor, isle décor… we do it all! We also carry a line of event rental items.

What can you tell us about your pricing?

We offer custom event production that is tailored to every client, no matter how intimate or grand an event. We do not offer pre-selected event packages because we believe that no two events are created equal. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to your special day.

Do you deliver?

Yes! We deliver! We do not have a “service area” for our wedding flowers, we travel! (Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee currently.) For our everyday flower services, we deliver locally in Carrollton KY as well as Worthville, Ghent, Perry Park, Bedford, Campbellsburg, Turners Station, Wheatley, Milton, Sanders, New Castle, Warsaw and New Liberty.

What is the first step?

For the first step we have an event inquiry form located on our website. That ensures we get all your information and that we currently have the date available.

What Can I expect at an appointment? How should I prepare?

During the consultation we go over detailed information about the event, so it is ideal to have inspiration pictures, wedding color palette, table counts & guest counts, etc.

#2 Meadowview Flowers - Princeton, KY

We're Interviewing: Sara - Owner, Farmer, Forager & Floral Designer

About the Business!

I started growing and selling flowers at farmers markets in 2013. I was soon asked to do weddings. I love weddings, especially during my growing season, when I can use all flowers and foliage I’ve gathered from the farm. If I don’t have enough of my own product, I try to source locally from other farmers if possible. My designs have a natural garden style. I have been gardening for most of my adult life and I love the look of putting seasonal ingredients together as they occur in nature. I love growing dahlias, which play a big part in my summer and fall weddings.

What services can you offer for my wedding?

I am a full service wedding florist. I will deliver all florals to the wedding location and set up and install everything with my team. I mainly provide flowers, but I also have an extensive collection of vintage vases, trays, candlesticks, etc. I love incorporating those items for a uniquely styled wedding. I can also provide other décor and services…place settings, linens, candles, etc. if desired.

Can you tell us about pricing?

I would say most of my weddings range from $1500 to $7000.

Do you deliver?

Yes, I deliver. Most of my weddings are in a 150 mile radius of our farm in Princeton, Kentucky, but I will travel further.

What is my first step?

I love to meet with clients and discuss their vision for their wedding day. During Covid I have been meeting virtually and through emails, texts and phone calls. Brides usually reach out through social media messaging or my website and then we go from there. I love planning weddings one year in advance, so that I can grow flowers especially for a wedding.

What makes you unique?

I take in a great deal of information during that first meeting, and I also share some options for flowers, vases and décor. Inspirational photos are helpful, as well as colors and styles of the bridal party attire. I then provide a proposal with flower and foliage variety specifics, descriptions of florals and other décor, and pricing.

#3 The Flower Lady - West Liberty, KY

We're Interviewing: Bethany, The Owner

About the Business!

I am an Eastern Kentucky native who has always found joy in growing and arranging flowers as a hobby. I started The Flower Lady in January of 2020 to turn my passion into a business that would help brides create their dream flowers. In this first year, The Flower Lady has exceeded my expectations as I have met all of the goals I set in January and achieved things that I never imagined I could in this first year, especially during a global pandemic.

What services can you offer for my wedding?

The Flower Lady is a “one-stop shop” for all of your floral needs! I can design your flowers, deliver, set-up, and I also offer flower removal service as well. Planning and preparing for your wedding day can be stressful, so I make it a priority to make the flower aspect as easy and stress-free as possible.

Can you tell us about pricing?

I strive to deliver beautiful flowers at competitive prices for my brides. I do offer payment plans to help with the budgeting for a wedding, because wedding planning can bring many expenses on a couple at once. Couples can choose at what frequency they make payments, however most of my couples choose to make monthly payments. The minimum for wedding orders is $250.

Do you deliver?

I deliver in the Eastern Kentucky area as well as the following Central Kentucky cities: Winchester, Lexington, and Paris.

What is my first step?

The first step is to send me a message through Facebook, Instagram, The Knot; an email (bloomsbyb19@gmail.com); or a text (606-495-6755). I make it a priority to respond to all wedding inquiries within the day. Once you make this initial contact, I will ask you a few questions about your day.

How can I prepare for an appointment?

For our conversation, you can prepare for these questions: Where is your venue? What is your color scheme? Any flowers you have in mind? What’s your budget? What arrangements/pieces are you needing? I also ask that a bride send me any inspiration that the couple has for their wedding flowers from Pinterest or magazines. I do offer free video chat consolations to discuss your wedding flowers, however most of my brides choose to communicate through social media or email. Once I have an idea of what you’re looking for, I compile a quote with prices for all of the arrangements/pieces you’re needing for the big day. I make it a priority to have these to you within 2-3 days of our conversation. I send the quote for the bride to review. When a couple chooses to book with me, I ask for a $100 deposit to hold the date (this comes off of the quote total). Payments can be made through Venmo, invoice, or check. After a couple books with me, I also email my contract for the couple to read over and sign. Once this process is complete, I like to make the flower component of their wedding as easy and stress-free as possible, so they can sit back and enjoy every moment of the wedding planning process and their wedding day.

#4 Susan's Florist - Louisville, KY

We're Interviewing: Amy, Proprietor and KMF Designer

Trent & Kendra Photography

About the Business!

My first experience working at a florist was just after college when I was trying to save money for a trip to Europe. I started on Valentines Day if you can imagine! I went on to a career at Georgia-Pacific but my love for flowers never faded. After doing the bouquets for my sister's wedding, I returned to my passion and began creating wedding florals from my house/garage as my four children were growing up. That evolved to 50 plus wedding per year just by word of mouth. Then in 2002 my adventure as owner of Susan's Florist began and I still cherish the gift I have to create living art with flowers.

Here at Susan's Florist everyday is the same but also different. We design unique, creative and fabulous florals for every celebration in life - from the beginning until the end and everything in between. We know you always remember the day you get flowers and we take pride in our quality, service and attention to detail.

Sometimes I tell my designers the shop is "organized chaos", but when we see the end result of events like the Kentucky Derby or Fund for the Arts or 21c Hotel, it is all worth it!!! Our work has been acknowledged in The Wall Street Journal (Derby Rose Dress) and Vogue Magazine (American Pharoah).

What services can you offer for my wedding?

We strive to provide everything the bride needs from full service delivery / set-up and pick up to flower pick-up from our location where we have everything packaged and ready to be transported. We can also provide day-of coordination services if requested. We work with the wedding schedule to have flowers wherever they need to be for photos.

Can you tell us about pricing?

We do not have a set minimum since we have had brides who just quietly get married on the rooftop at 21c Hotel or walz to the courthouse on a day's notice! We have a wide range of price points depending on several factors such as the type of blooms used to create the designs and bouquets to the size and number of stems in each piece. Our bridal bouquets typically start around $175 with most costing $250-300.

We suggest using the bridesmaid bouquets as table centerpieces after the ceremony and they generally range $60-80. We always look for ways to maximize your budget and use the flowers for your entire event. Some brides want only bridal party flowers and some want ceremony and reception pieces as well so the total wedding budget can be $500-$10,000.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we can deliver anywhere in the Louisville metro area and just across the river in Indiana. We have certainly done weddings and events at almost every event venue in town so we are familiar with layouts and spaces. Our delivery fee is determined once we know what the bride needs on her special day.

What is my first step?

We will ask that the bride email us her date and flower details along with any inspiration photos as most brides these days have their own Pinterest page full! We then confirm we are available and coordinate an appointment from there. We have been trying to stay safe this year so most of our consultations are via conference calls or zoom. We are hopeful to resume in-person meetings soon.

How can I prepare for an appointment?

When we meet with the bride and whomever else she wants to include, we will review all the information she has sent us and talk more about details. We ask that the wedding colors and overall style be decided prior to our meeting so we can best offer suggestions. We typically present some fresh flowers to let her see and smell the blooms she has in mind. We will let her hold sample bouquet and snap a photo. This gives her an idea of how she wants to hold the bouquet and the size most appropriate for her dress style. It is also VERY exciting to see yourself holding a wedding bouquet!

#5 Brownings Flower Truck - Cynthiana, KY

We're Interviewing: Lauren, Half Owner & Operator

Nixon Rusher Photography

About the Business!

I am originally from California, I served six years in the Coast Guard where I was stationed in Puerto Rico and that is where I met Drew (the other half, and namesake of Brownings). Drew is originally from Texas and was living in Puerto Rico because he likes to kiteboard and because it is an easy commute to New York City where he works as a pilot for JetBlue. When I was leaving the service I decided to pursue a career in agriculture despite not having any previous experience - I spent my childhood living in a condo in the suburbs of Sacramento.

Drew and I moved to Kentucky so that I could begin school at UK. We lived in a fifth wheel camper for three years until we found our now home and farm that is located in Cynthiana. It is here we began Brownings. We have only been in business since July of 2019 but in that time we have taught numerous seasonal workshops, provided bouquet subscription services, offered photoshoots with our vintage flower truck and on our farm in the fields of flowers, established our flower truck and brought it to our local town, The Castle, and The Summit, offered wedding florals and large installations, and most recently began offering our products in a retail space called Abby Maes boutique in downtown Georgetown. We will be offering a U-Pick flower field on our farm that will be open to the public in 2021.

What services can you offer for my wedding?

We can offer to make whatever your vision is of your wedding day a reality. We offer DIY, A La Carte, and Full Service options.

Can you tell us about pricing?

The majority of our brides choose our Full Service package. DIY is our most budget friendly option, during Covid a lot of brides took advantage of our A La Carte offerings - both of these require pickup from our studio in Cynthiana. We offer Full Service options at any time but require that you book full service during the months of May, June, September, and October with a $2,500 minimum.

Do you deliver?

We can deliver up to 30 miles but outside of that we charge by the mile at the current federal mileage rate.

What is my first step?

Your first step is to message us! Our email is BrowningsFlowerTruck@gmail.com I can then send you a brochure that has our pricing breakdown, special details, and a greater explanation of all of our packages and key things to keep in mind.

How can I prepare for an appointment?

Drew and I both work full time jobs and manage a farm - we are farmer florists so we do not operate the way a traditional florist might and because of that we really limit the times we meet in person. Our Full Service package offers two consultations but most brides only need one. We do everything via phone call, email, and Pinterest board. To prepare prior to contacting us please have an idea of your budget, date of your wedding, an inspiration board made of wedding florals on Pinterest so that we can envision your style, and a general idea of the numbers you will need i.e. 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 7 centerpieces etc.

Please also expect that we do our best work when we have creative freedom. A general idea of your vision is what we will create for you but with our own unique aesthetic. We love texture and greenery, we source from local flower farmers, and we only promise a color palette and not individual flower choices. If you trust your florist, you will get a great product. The brides that choose us are generally relaxed about the decisions we as professionals make and trust that we will make their vision a reality in our own unique way.
